Our Mission

At DUFA, our mission is to foster mutual understanding and collaboration between Denmark and Uganda. We aim to strengthen ties by promoting cultural exchange, supporting development projects, and enhancing the quality of life in Ugandan communities.

Our History

DUFA was founded in 2000 by Danish farmers inspired by their experiences with Ugandan agricultural exchange students. Over the years, DUFA has evolved into a dynamic organization supporting a variety of impactful projects in Uganda. Notable milestones include:

  • Launching the Plant and Health Project in 2002 to improve farming practices and health education.
  • Establishing the Women Development Centre in 2008, providing tailoring skills and a supportive network for war-affected women.
  • Developing educational resources for Danish schools, such as the "Bønner og Cassava" program.

DUFA has also played a key role in recycling initiatives, delivering computers, hospital equipment, and school furniture to Ugandan communities.

Our Values

Our core values guide everything we do at DUFA. These values include:

  • Respect: We honor the cultures, traditions, and perspectives of both Danish and Ugandan communities.
  • Integrity: We are committed to transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in all our endeavors.
  • Collaboration: We believe in the power of working together to achieve common goals and create lasting impact.
  • Empowerment: We strive to empower individuals and communities through education, skills development, and support.
  • Sustainability: We prioritize sustainable practices that ensure long-term benefits for both people and the environment.

Our Projects

DUFA is involved in several projects aimed at improving the lives of Ugandan communities. Some of our key projects include:

  • Plant and Health Project: Initiated in 2002, this project supports Ugandan farmers with CISU-funded initiatives to improve agricultural practices, health awareness, and gender equality.
  • Women Development Project: Established in partnership with The Mothers Union in Gulu, this center provides tailoring skills, basic education, and a support network for women affected by war.
  • Ecological Certification Project: Developed "Bønner og Cassava," an educational program designed for Danish schoolchildren to teach them about Ugandan nutrition, health, and culture.
  • Computer Aid Project: Facilitates the delivery of computers and IT resources to schools and organizations in Uganda, enhancing access to education and technology.
